About Jagrut Organization
Jagrut Bahuuddeshiya Sanstha was established in 2015 by like-minded young social activists in Chandrapur district, Maharashtra. The organization is registered with the Charity Commissioner, Chandrapur. The President and Secretary of the organization have made significant contributions to rural development under the Maharashtra Chief Minister Rural Development Fellowship. The organization’s registered office is in Chandrapur, with a regional office in Gadchiroli. Jagrut primarily works in rural development and research, women and child empowerment, and with forest-based communities. It works directly with the Kolam tribal community in Chandrapur and the Madia tribal community in Gadchiroli to improve their quality of life and enable self-reliant living by utilizing rights granted under various laws. Public awareness forms a core objective of the organization.
To achieve this, Jagrut implements various community-focused programs, provides guidance and counseling, promotes forest-based livelihoods, strengthens Gram Sabhas, and facilitates educational opportunities in rural areas. The organization is committed to reducing insecurity among the Kolam and Madia communities. Activities are decided collectively by members, with the President and Secretary organizing field visits and programs. Over ten years of continuous work, Jagrut has mobilized volunteers to participate in social initiatives. The organization firmly believes in constitutional values and actively promotes awareness of the Indian Constitution among tribal and rural communities. Overall, Jagrut is dedicated to nurturing leadership and advancing the development of tribal societies.
